Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo 9-11

VIEW IN EDSHED

Michael is thrown overboard from his parent’s yacht during a fierce storm.  Michael is washed up on the shore of a remote island.  He soon discovers that he is not alone.  Kensuke, a former Japanese soldier, survived the war and the bombing of Hiroshima is living on the island too. The two of them form a strong bond and Kensuke faces the difficult choice of giving up his life on the island paradise to help Michael find his parents.
